Astros Go Down to Defeat, 8-1
|
The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at O.co Coliseum, knocking off the Houston Astros, 8-1. Starting pitcher Brendon Howell was a big reason why. The 4th-place Athletics now have a win-loss record of 27-40.
Ryan Tipton had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fourth for Oakland. With the bases loaded and the Athletics leading 1-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Tipton told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
