Minnesota Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The Minnesota Twins moved to within one game of the Championship Series, downing the visiting Boston Red Sox at Target Field by a score of 3-2. Twins right-hander Adam Pennington had a strong outing in which he threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Twins a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
Billy Hinson, who finished 2nd in the AL in slugging percentage with .609 in 2108, took Boston hurler Josh DeMuth deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Twins on top, 3-2. In all, Hinson had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
Minnesota manager Chris Greuling commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, October 20th , 2110 at Fenway Park in Boston.
