Series Lead Trimmed to 1 for Minnesota After 7-2 Setback
The Kansas City Royals have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Minnesota Twins, winning, 7-2, at Kauffman Stadium. Royals left-hander Mark Ashford threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Royals to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Ashford, a native of Sherwood Park, Canada, was dealing all game. He kept Minnesota hitters off-balance, while giving the Royals 7.1 quality innings. Ashford threw 97 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 9.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Ashford, "and then get after it again."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 29th , 2115 at Target Field in Minneapolis.
