San Diego Advances to Championship Series
|
The San Diego Padres are heading to the Championship Series, having narrowly defeated the St. Louis Cardinals.
San Diego edged St. Louis in the series 3-2, with a win at The Pound at Seaport Village in the clinching game by a 3-2 margin.
Mike McNamara turned in a strong offensive performance for the Padres and got series MVP for his efforts.
"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a World Series win."
It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if McNamara continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.
For the series, he hit .346 with a .346 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
