World Series Game 1 Victory for Rainey and Toronto
The Toronto Blue Jays started the World Series in style, downing the visiting Las Vegas Hustle at Rogers Centre by a score of 7-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Blue Jays right-hander Jim Rainey threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball.

Dennis Desper, who led the AL in runs with 102 in 2100, helped out the Toronto cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. For the game, the designated hitter went 2 for 3 with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Rainey. "Successful pitchers do it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
