Rangers Topple Yankees, 7-2
|
Behind a fine performance from Simeone DeVito, the Texas Rangers knocked off the New York Yankees, 7-2. DeVito went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Rangers. Kelyn Norlander, the winning pitcher, is now 4-7. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 0. Arturo Segura earned the save, his 2nd, for the Rangers.
Ryan Adkins dealt the Yankees a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Texas leading 1-0, Adkins, who is a four-time Gold Glove Award winner, hit a 1-2 cutter for a run-scoring single.
DeVito said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
With the win, the Rangers have a record of 34-35.
