Pirates Down Brewers, 8-7
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates outlasted Joe Hardie and the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-7. Hardie was impressive in the loss. The Milwaukee right fielder was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Pittsburgh, now 31-39, holds down third place in the National League East Division.
The Pirates procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Nate D'Acquisto. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"This place was electric at the end," D'Acquisto said.
