Reds Fall to Cubs Late
|
The Chicago Cubs scooped up a win at Great American Ball Park, dumping the Cincinnati Reds, 3-1. Brian Martinko, who leads the NL in quality starts with 11, was essential to his team's success. Andrew Gray was credited with the save for Chicago, his 14th of the season. The second-place Cubs lifted their record to 42-29.
Mike Key came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The right fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Key attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
