Victory Over Giants Takes Detroit to 43-26
|
Detroit took on San Francisco in front of a lively crowd.
Behind the hitting of David Schafer, the Detroit Tigers stopped the San Francisco Giants, 6-2. Schafer was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Tigers. Detroit reliever Jim Vickery picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jose Rodriguez shouldered the loss.
Detroit took a 3-0 lead on Tim Wilson's 18th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Wilson hit in the top of the seventh, left San Francisco pitcher Rick Rudd visibly frustrated.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Schafer.
The loss makes San Francisco 42-28.
