Giants Raise Rally Flag, Beat Las Vegas, 2-1
|
The San Francisco Giants defeated the Las Vegas Hustle, 2-1, in National League action at AT&T Park. San Francisco pitcher Andy Cote had a standout performance. Alexis Mendoza picked up the save, his 17th. San Francisco occupies second place in the National League West Division at 43-28.
Had Ben Presley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Presley hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Giants.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Cote told the San Francisco Citizen.
