Takahashi Helps Houston Cruise to 10-2 Win
|
The Houston Astros pinned a convincing loss on the Seattle Mariners, 10-2, at Minute Maid Park. Hideyuki Takahashi was a main factor in the win. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for Houston. The Astros win now puts them at 39-33.
The Astros got a big hit from catcher Jimmy McClanahan. Facing Seattle pitcher Jim Bartz in the bottom of the seventh, McClanahan pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 12th home run of the season put the Astros ahead, 10-2.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," McClanahan told the Houston Bulletin.
