The Kansas City Royals managed to get by the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-5, at PNC Park. Kansas City pitcher Scott Bowling set himself apart with his performance. Bowling got the win, improving to 6-4. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Ryan Washington recorded the save, his 10th.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Antonio Alvarez? The Kansas City third baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Royals on top, 2-0. For the game, Alvarez had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
