Atlanta Beats Washington, 6-1
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals.
Washington had no answer for Atlanta Braves starter Doug Donaghey, who flummoxed Nationals hitters as the Braves cruised to victory, 6-1. The Nationals, now 41-30, have lost 5 in a row.
Atlanta used a clutch at-bat from Victor Nunez to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Braves ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Doug knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Atlanta manager Dan Hoagland.
