St. Louis Downed, 4-2, by Reds
|
Kyle Gruhlke, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in complete games with 1, had a strong outing for the Cincinnati Reds against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Franklin Ayala picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Benny Morgan suffered the loss. Cincinnati improves to 44-29 with the win. They lead their division by 3½ games.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Danny Molina to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Reds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Molina.
