Cincinnati pitcher Israel Castillo did his part in helping his team beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Reds own a robust 49-24 mark.

Cincinnati took a 4-1 lead on Steve Carbone's 24th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off St. Louis pitcher Jaden McCullough in the top of the eighth.

In postgame comments to the Cincinnati Daily, Castillo said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
