Orioles Get 3-2 Win Versus Toronto
|
Baltimore beat Toronto at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, eking out a 3-2 win. The triumph was primarily due to first baseman Joseph Thomson. He was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 walks. The winner in relief was Pedro Salazar. He is now 2-1. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Dave Buskey earned the save for Baltimore, his 1st of the year.
David Elson had a big 2-run home run for the Orioles in the bottom of the third inning. With Baltimore leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Rainey and swatted a home run to left. It was his 11th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Orioles ahead, 3-0.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Toronto manager Dan Silva.
At 32-41, the Orioles find themselves in third place in the American League East Division.
