The Cleveland Guardians handed the Detroit Tigers a loss at Progressive Field. The final score was 7-6. Brian Ellis was one of the major contributors for Cleveland. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 4. Manny Castro earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 4-3. Pablo Iglesias earned the save for Cleveland, his 12th of the year.

Cleveland took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 2nd, Ricky Alvarez hit a run-scoring single to make it 7-6, Guardians.

"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Cleveland skipper Mike Nichols.
