Yankees Sting Braves, 3-1
|
The New York Yankees got great pitching from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Eason, allowing them to bump off the Atlanta Braves, 3-1. Zach Rogers earned the save, his 13th, for the Yankees. At 28-44, the Yankees are currently last in the American League East Division.
Nick Rich had a big solo home run for the Yankees in the bottom of the third inning. With New York leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Chris Snodgrass, who finished 5th in the NL in saves with 32 in 2107, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Yankees on top, 3-1.
"Andy made the big pitches when he needed to," said New York manager Mike Hanson.
