Minnesota got a terrific game from third baseman Bret McBride. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cleveland, 8-6, in 11 innings. McBride went 5-6 with a double and 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Cleveland reliever Raul Novoa was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Carlos Mella took the loss. Cleveland is last in the American League Central Division with a record of 31-41.

Cleveland used a timely hit from Gustavo Franco to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Guardians ahead, 8-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Sweet win for us, tough loss for them," said Franco.
