Los Angeles third baseman Eddie Saldana contributed significantly to his team's 12-2 win over the Houston Astros. Saldana, who is on pace for 79 RBI this season, went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Angels. Los Angeles pitcher Kevin Plume got the win. He's now 7-2. Jim Grangroth was tagged with the loss. Los Angeles, at 37-35, occupies second place in the American League West Division.

Catcher Eric Borer made an impact for Los Angeles, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Jim Grangroth in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Borer was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"It kind of got out of hand on us there," said losing manager Tony Monterosa.
