Rockies Edge Brewers, 6-5
|
The Colorado Rockies overcame a good performance by Milwaukee catcher Roger Guzman to knock off Milwaukee, 6-5, in 12 innings at Miller Park. Guzman went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Alex Gallargo notched his 1st save of the season. With this game in the books, Colorado is 41-31, Milwaukee 29-44.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jonathan Mendenhall came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Milwaukee pitcher Jesse Aguiar, he hit a first pitch curveball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Colorado on top, 5-3.
"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Colorado manager Trevor Taka.
