New York Yankees starter Dave Linkous was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Boston Red Sox, 3-1. Jon Barton was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 14 save opportunities. New York, now 30-43, holds down 4th place in the American League East Division.

New York used a well-timed hit by Zach Sterling to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Yankees ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"It feels good, just a great win all around," Linkous said after the game.
