Blue Jays Get Clonked by Red Sox, 7-3
|
Boston left fielder Alex Salazar had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-3. Boston pitcher Travis West got the win. He's now 7-4. Ryan Czarnecki was tagged with the loss. Danny Urista, credited with the save, is now 7 for 13 in save opportunities.
Salazar contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Boston in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Salazar took a fastball from Ryan Czarnecki and stroked the home run to left-center. His 16th home run of the season allowed the Red Sox to leap in front, 3-2.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Salazar.
Boston is 42-31 and Toronto, with the loss, 45-29.
