Boston Takes 2-1 Lead in League Championship Series
|
Despite a great performance by Seattle starter Steve Jardon, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Mariners by the score of 5-2 at Safeco Field today. Jardon threw 6.0 innings allowing 5 runs, but he couldn't prevent the Red Sox from moving one game closer to the World Series. Boston now leads the League Championship Series 2-1.
Pat Seeley, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Seeley contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Boston up, 2-0.
"We're happy," Seeley told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Safeco Field in Seattle.
