Raucous Safeco Field Crowd Propels Mariners to 3-2 Victory; Series Tied at 2
|
Evan Parker pitched well, but the Boston Red Sox lost anyway, falling 3-2 in extra innings to the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. With the win, Seattle took a 2-2 lead in the best-of-7 League Championship Series. Parker pitched well, giving the Red Sox 7.2 innings and allowing 2 runs.
Seattle won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With no outs and Edgar Castillo on the mound for Boston, first baseman David Garcia hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Mariners fans to their feet.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Garcia.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Safeco Field in Seattle.
