The Kansas City Royals beat the Texas Rangers, 6-5, with major props going to first baseman Jose Gaitan. On the day, Gaitan went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5 for the Royals. Kansas City pitcher Cesar Ramos earned the win, hiking his record to 5-6. Heitaro Nishimoto suffered the loss. Hector Botello, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.

Gaitan had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 sinker from Heitaro Nishimoto, he banged a 2-run triple to right-center, giving the Royals a 5-3 lead. It was the 7th triple of the year for Gaitan.

"The key is not trying to do too much," said Gaitan.

The Royals now have a mark of 40-35.
