Division Series Goes the Distance, Tampa Bay Prevails
|
The Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers held nothing back in an entertaining Division Series that went the distance.
In the end, it will be Tampa Bay advancing to the League Championship Series, after a 5-2 triumph in the final game at Comerica Park, to wrap up the series 3-2.
The Rays players celebrated jubilantly in their clubhouse after the game, while the scene was one of dismay on the opposing side for the Tigers.
Tom Fleming was named series MVP for Tampa Bay. For the series, Fleming hit .714 with a .750 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Tampa Bay Rays will play against the Houston Astros in the next round. Houston won their series against the Seattle Mariners 3 games to 2. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
