Raucous Minute Maid Park Crowd Propels Astros to 5-1 Victory; Series Tied at 3
|
The Houston Astros and the Tampa Bay Rays will take the League Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Astros beat the Rays 5-1 at Minute Maid Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Houston left-hander Scott Nagle had a big role in the win. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball.
Danny Delgado took Mike Bergeron deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Astros on top, 2-0. In all, Delgado had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Houston manager Giovanni Ciotti.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
