Houston Takes 2-1 Lead in Division Series
|
The Houston Astros moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the Boston Red Sox on the road at Fenway Park by a score of 3-1. Astros right-hander Corey Winer had a strong outing. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Astros a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
Dave Kohler, the two-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Kohler contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Houston up, 3-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Houston manager Giovanni Ciotti. "It's usually not just one thing."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fenway Park in Boston.
