Cincinnati Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The Cincinnati Reds moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the visiting Philadelphia Phillies at Great American Ball Park by a score of 3-2. Reds second baseman Alex Williams did some major damage. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win gives the Reds a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
The outcome might have been different had it not been for Williams. In the bottom of the eighth inning, when the Reds were trailing 2-1, Williams delivered a two-out 2-run home run for Cincinnati, giving his team the lead.
"We were in it," said Philadelphia manager John Lucidi. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 15th , 2075 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
