Division Series Game 1 Victory for Vega and Atlanta
|
The Atlanta Braves powered past the visiting San Diego Padres, 3-2, in the opener of the Division Series at Coca-Cola Field today. Atlanta starting pitcher Hugo Vega threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Braves now lead the series 1-0.
The Braves benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the fourth. With Matt Collingwood at bat and Atlanta leading 2-1, the San Diego miscue allowed Atlanta to plate 1 and take the lead, 3-1.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Atlanta manager Chris Greuling.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coca-Cola Field in Atlanta.
