Giants Post 2-1 Win Over Arizona
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Doe, but the San Francisco Giants still won the game, 2-1. Doe threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Alexis Mendoza collected save number 18. The Giants saw their win-loss record go to 46-28. At the same time, the Diamondbacks fell to 34-41.
The Diamondbacks had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Giants going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 32-year old shortstop Kevin Mosemann came to the plate. Mosemann hit a solo home run on a 1-0 fastball from Arizona hurler Nehemiah Tatum. It was Mosemann's 7th home run of the year.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Terrell Bailey.
