Diamondbacks Prevail, as Division Series Goes to the Wire
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves didn't hold back anything in the Division Series, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the League Championship Series.
Arizona won the final game by a score of 3-2 at Chase Field and that concluded the series, 3-2.
"Relief is the biggest thing," Arizona left fielder Dave Pomeroy said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Atlanta deserves credit for the hard fight."
Pomeroy paced the Arizona offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .538 with a .571 on-base percentage, 3 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will play against the Milwaukee Brewers in the next round. Milwaukee won their series against the Philadelphia Phillies 3 games to 1. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
