White Sox Take Tight Tilt, 4-2
|
The Kansas City Royals got a whale of a performance from pitcher Scott Bowling, but the Chicago White Sox still prevailed, 4-2, in 15 innings. Bowling threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Chicago reliever Addy Hoogkamp picked up the win, upping his record to 6-0. Antonio Aguilar absorbed the loss. Chicago is now 49-27.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 15th for Chicago. That's when Steve Slaughter, who is tied for 10th in the AL in stolen bases with 16, hit a 2-run home run off John Rood to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"Being in first place now is good," said Slaughter. "Being in first at the end of the season is better. That's our goal."
