Orioles Handle Cubs, 3-2
|
Baltimore and Chicago played a hard-fought contest.
The Baltimore Orioles faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Jérémy Dumont, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Wrigley Field by a final score of 3-2. Dumont went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Earning his 20th save for Baltimore was Matt Olson.
The Orioles got a big at-bat from center fielder Brian Baumbach. For the game, Baumbach went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 17th home run of the season gave Baltimore a 2-0 lead.
"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Vin Calia.
Baltimore occupies second place in the American League East Division at 42-33.
