St. Louis starter Bill McEnerney pitched well against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-5. In 6.2 innings, McEnerney surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The win makes St. Louis 41-36.

Justin Brown had a big 3-run home run for the Cardinals in the top of the sixth inning. With St. Louis leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Brian Martinko, who finished 2nd in the NL in innings pitched with 230.1 last year, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 13th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 5-0.
