Angels Absorb 5-2 Home Loss
|
The inspired effort of Los Angeles second baseman David Elson was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-2, to the Boston Red Sox. Elson went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Alexis Cordova picked up the save for Boston, his 11th of the year. The Red Sox are now 36-41, while the Angels fall to 40-38.
Boston used a clutch at-bat from Shamel Sanchez to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Sanchez said.
