Brewers Fell Giants, 5-1
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Phil Stirling, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the San Francisco Giants, 5-1. Stirling went 2 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs for the Brewers. Milwaukee pitcher Alexis Fuentes earned the win, hiking his record to 9-6. Juliano Capela suffered the loss. Milwaukee, now 42-36, holds down third place in the National League Central Division.
The Brewers got a big at-bat from right fielder Pat Yaeger. For the game, Yaeger was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Milwaukee a 2-1 lead.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Stirling. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
