Phillies Take Down Diamondbacks, 2-0
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks got a superb performance from pitcher Jesse Johnson, but the Philadelphia Phillies still won the game, 2-0. Johnson threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Jason Hunter collected his 18th save. The Phillies go to 43-34, putting them first in the National League East Division.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Pete Ray to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Ray.
