Tigers Handled by Toronto, 6-1
|
Comerica Park was the site for American League action featuring the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays stymied the Detroit Tigers, 6-1, at Comerica Park. Greg Whitaker had a good day at the plate. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk for Toronto. Reliever Adrian Korner picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Chuck Watts took the loss.
Whitaker had a key at-bat for Toronto early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a run-scoring double. It was his 21st double of the season and gave Toronto an early 1-0 lead.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Whitaker told the Toronto Times.
The first-place Blue Jays are now 50-29, the Tigers 38-39.
