Royals Beat Nationals, 5-3
|
The Kansas City Royals beat the Washington Nationals by a score of 5-3. Kansas City left fielder Mike Andreas deserved the lion's share of the credit. Andreas went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Royals. The winner was Jon Cook in relief. His record improves to 5-4. Josh Wright took the loss. The Royals saw their win-loss record go to 30-49. At the same time, the Nationals fell to 36-44.
Andreas had an important at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Royals went on to win.
