The Houston Astros beat the Chicago White Sox, 5-3. Houston pitcher and Shafter, California, native Nick Avery led the way. Avery picked up the win for Houston, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 8-6. Nick Mulcahey wrapped it up, recording his 2nd save.

Johnny Johnson had a big run-scoring double for the Astros in the bottom of the fourth inning. It was his 25th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 4-2.
