Tampa Bay Takes Wildcard Series in Deciding Game
The Tampa Bay Rays players streamed onto the field at Kauffman Stadium in jubilation, while heads were hung and few words were spoken in the Kansas City Royals clubhouse at the conclusion of the Wildcard Series.

In a series that had a bit of everything and went the distance, Tampa Bay won the final game 2-0 and the series 2-1.

"It's hard to describe what we're feeling right now," said Tampa Bay left-hander Harry DeBiase, whose strong pitching performance in the series garnered him MVP honors. "You square off against a good team like Kansas City and anything can happen. Both teams deserved to go on, but thankfully it's us."

For the series, DeBiase had a 0.00 ERA over 6.2 innings pitched. He added 13 strikeouts with a 1-0 record.

The Tampa Bay Rays will play against the Cleveland Indians in the next round. Cleveland had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
