White Sox Tack 2-1 Loss on Yankees
|
The New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox provided some drama for the home crowd.
The New York Yankees wasted an inspired, 5.2-inning effort from starter Chase Gifford, falling, 2-1, to the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium. The win went to Ryan Broughton in relief. His record improves to 5-6. Pete Thomas took the loss.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Aaron Northup to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the White Sox on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Northup attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
Chicago improves to 58-43 with the win. They lead their division by 2 games.
