Aimone, White Sox Muscle Up, Punch Out Yankees, 16-2
|
The Chicago White Sox blasted the New York Yankees, 16-2, at Yankee Stadium. Chicago left fielder Joey Aimone had a productive day. He was 3-5 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Chicago pitcher Jeremy Merenda got the win, upping his record to 3-3. Griff Hill got the loss. Chicago, now 45-36, holds down first place in the American League Central Division.
Chris Hodges, who is on pace for 68 RBI this season, contributed to the Chicago win with a grand slam home run in the top of the third. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 6 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 5 runs batted in.
"That was brutal," said losing manager Mike Hanson. "The sooner we can turn the page, the better."
