High Desert Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1
The High Desert Mavericks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Lancaster JetHawks, winning 3-1 at Stater Bros. Stadium today. Mavericks designated hitter Travis Johns was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Mavericks to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Johns came through for High Desert with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. He hit a full count fastball to right field, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" High Desert manager Jake Corson said.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Matt Freeman for the Lancaster JetHawks and Neil Brady for the the High Desert Mavericks.
