Cubs Get 9-5 Win Versus Oakland
|
The Chicago Cubs knocked off the Oakland Athletics, 9-5, at Wrigley Field. Amir Shaw was a big reason Chicago won. The designated hitter was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The save went to Mario Gomez, his 18th this season. Chicago has a 3-game win streak, while Oakland has lost 3 in a row.
Shaw made an early impact for Chicago when he stroked his 12th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came in the bottom of the second, put the Cubs on top, 8-0.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Chicago manager Vin Calia.
