Alessi Hits 2 Roundtrippers, Reds Win, 9-1
|
Angel Stadium of Anaheim was the site for National League action featuring the Los Angeles Angels and Cincinnati Reds.
The Cincinnati Reds used the hitting of shortstop Allan Alessi to subdue the Los Angeles Angels, 9-1. For the game, Alessi went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Cincinnati reliever Mario Rangel got the win, raising his record to 2-0. John Larson was tagged with the loss.
Javy Castaneda drew 1 walk for Cincinnati. The 25-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off John Larson. It was his 25th RBI of the season.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Alessi, "one at-bat at a time."
The Reds, at 47-32, sit in second place in the National League Central Division.
