Blue Wahoos Edge BayBears 6-5 to Open R2
|
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos powered past the hometown Mobile BayBears, 6-5, in the opener of the Round 2 at Hank Aaron Stadium today. Pensacola first baseman Tom Sneed went 5 for 5 with 5 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, to lead the charge. The Blue Wahoos now lead the series 1-0.
Omar Cantu gave Pensacola a good at-bat in the top of the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to help send Pensacola to the win.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Blue Wahoos manager Mike Cortez said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Jorge de Jesus for Pensacola and Dave Hopkins for Mobile.
