Padres Best Tigers in Pitching Duel
|
Comerica Park was the site of a competitive game between the Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres.
With second baseman Ray Parker leading the charge, the San Diego Padres defeated the Detroit Tigers, 2-0, at Comerica Park. Parker, who is on pace to hit 36 home runs this season, was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Reliever Ricky Marquez picked up the win. His record improves to 10-2. Cole May took the loss.
In the top of the first, with the game still scoreless, Parker hit a run-scoring single to put his team in the lead.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Parker told the San Diego Herald.
San Diego's record now stands at 44-36, placing them second in the National League West Division.
