Vinny Herrick pitched a dandy of a game to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Guardians, 2-1. Detroit currently is in third place in the American League Central Division at 38-41.

Casey Peterson had a big run-scoring double for the Tigers in the bottom of the third inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Bobby Quinn and swatted a double to left. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 2-0.

"Vinny went out and did what we needed," said Detroit manager Chris Gasparro.
