Royals Beaten By Brewers, 4-1
|
Jay Garza, who is tied for 4th in the NL in quality starts with 11, imposed his will on the Royals from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the left-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Milwaukee triumph. Garza yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 8-5. Dave Zuwiski closed it out for Milwaukee, earning his 23rd save.
Dennis Desper was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Milwaukee. The six-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jose Arias. It was his 28th walk of the season.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Desper told a Milwaukee News reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
With the win, the Brewers have a record of 38-43.
