Nunez Hits 2 home runs in Braves Win
|
The Atlanta Braves stopped the Philadelphia Phillies, 12-5, behind an impressive performance from Victor Nunez. The 25-year old third baseman made life miserable for Philadelphia pitching. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 4. Juan Gerardino, who finished 5th in the NL in ERA with 3.47 in 2105, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts. At 38-44, the Braves are currently second in the National League East Division.
Early in the game, Nunez had a 3-run home run for Atlanta. It was his 23rd home run of the season and put the Braves on top, 3-0.
"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Atlanta skipper Dan Hoagland.
