In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

The New York Mets got a superb performance from center fielder Jose de la Rosa, but the Washington Nationals still won the game, 8-7. de la Rosa was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Curt Tupper earned save number 14 this season.

In the bottom of the sixth, Washington left fielder Jon Young had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Young stroked a 2-run single to left-center. It made the score 8-5, Washington. For the game, he went 2-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"I don't care about style points," Young said. "I only care about winning."

The Nationals now have a record of 37-45.
