The Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals completed their game despite the rain.

The Cincinnati Reds topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-0, in National League action at Busch Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cincinnati pitcher Josh Blackburn. Blackburn, now 7-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Mike Yates closed the game out for Cincinnati, earning his 8th save.

The Reds got an important contribution from shortstop Alfonso Tejeda, who in the top of the second hit a fastball into right for a run-scoring double. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Reds ahead, 1-0.
